The 22nd edition of the Football World Cup is going to be held in Qatar on November 21 this year. FIFA, the world’s top governing body for football, unveiled the official ball ahead of the tournament on Wednesday (March 30th).
The official name of the Qatar World Cup is Al Rihla, which means travel in Arabic. The name is inspired by Qatari culture, installations, traditional boats and flags. The supplier of the ball is Adidas. They have been supplying the ball to the Football World Cup since the 1970s.
FIFA says Al Rihla will be the fastest ball in the air in World Cup history. The ball has been designed with the intention of increasing the speed in the match. This ball has been thoroughly tested in the Adidas laboratory after factual analysis.
Joe Francois Pathi, director of marketing for FIFA, said on the official FIFA website: With this ball, the players will play in a big sacrifice like the World Cup in Qatar. Besides, any grassroots footballer in the world can enjoy playing with it even if they want to.
