Arsenal last played in the Europa League in the 2020-21 season. In the semi-finals of the service, they lost to the Spanish club Villarreal in the semis. Despite not getting a chance in any European tournament for a season, Arsenal has once again qualified to play in the Europa League. And on Thursday (September 8), Arsenal won 2-1 against Swiss club FC Zurich in the first match of the season.

 

Arsenal faced Swiss club FC Zurich in Europa League Group ‘A’ match. The Gunners attacked the opponent’s defense from the beginning of the match. It was not too late to get the result, Arsenal got the first goal in the 16th minute of the match.

After that, in the 21st and 22nd minutes of the match, the Arsenal footballers could not take advantage of the opportunity to score twice in a row. 

However, Zurich got a penalty just before the break. Mirlind Karijiu brought Zurich back into the match with a goal from the spot kick. Arsenal maintained an attacking edge even after the break. The English club went ahead once more in the 62nd minute of the match. Nikita scored from the assist of Marquinhos, the scorer of the first goal. For the remainder of the match, neither could create any more telling chances. In the end, Arsenal left the field with a 2-1 goal difference.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s team Roma lost against Bulgarian club Ludogorets in another Europa League game of the day. No one got a goal in the first half due to the chaotic attack of both teams.

Ludogorets took the lead in the 72nd minute of the match. Oliviera Souza gave the team the lead with a goal from teammate Piotoreski’s assist. Roma equalized in the 86th minute. Elder Samurodev scored a great goal from Pellegrini’s assist to bring Roma back into the match. However, the joy of returning to parity did not last long for Roma.
