Senegalese winger Sadio Mane celebrated the title for the new team Bayern Munich on the same day as the former team Liverpool won the Community Shield. Bayern Munich won their first title of the season with a thrilling victory over Leipzig in a thrilling German Super Cup clash. The former Liverpool star scored a goal on his debut in a competitive match for the new team.

 

Bayern Munich beat Leipzig 5-3 to win the German Super Cup. For the team, Jamal Muslia, Mane, Serge Gnabry, Benjamin Pavard and Leroy Sane. It was the Bavarian giants’ first title since Robert Lewandowski left the club.

The Super Cup is played at the start of every season between the Bundesliga champions and the domestic German league cup winners. Leipzig got the chance to play in this tournament by winning the German Cup last season. It was their first major title.

Pavard scored the third goal for the Bundesliga champions just before the break. He scored the goal from Muslia’s pass.

Leipzig had hopes of getting back into the match in the second half. Halstenberg reduced the gap in 59 minutes. However, after five minutes, Bayern’s winger Gnabry took the gap to three.

After that, Leipzig sealed the match by scoring two goals. Leipzig’s French midfielder Christopher Nkunku scored from a penalty in the 79th minute. Spanish forward Dani Olmo found the net with one minute remaining. There was tension in the match. Leipzig desperate to get back into the match.

but Leroy Sane puts the last nail in Bayern’s coffin. The German winger scored in the eighth minute of added time. In the end, the Bavarians won the match 5-3.

The Bundesliga champions played in a competitive match for the first time since goaltender Lewandowski joined Barcelona this summer. The beginning of the new era was good for them with a big win. With this, Bayern won a record 10 Super Cup titles, including the third in a row. They have won the competition six times in the last seven seasons.
