Brazilian football legend Mario Jagalo has been admitted to hospital after suffering from a respiratory infection. Hospital Bara d’Or authorities in Rio de Janeiro confirmed the news. Meanwhile another legendary Pele prayed for Jagalo’s speedy recovery.
Jagalo has been kept in the intensive care unit (ICU), news agency AFP reported. However, the 90-year-old Jagalo’s physical condition is better than before, according to Bara d’Or Hospital authorities. It is known that he is able to breathe normally without the help of a machine.
Jagalo had earlier tested positive for Covid-19. The hospital authorities said that he was later tested negative. Jagalo was the first to win the World Cup as a player and coach.
Jagalo, who turns 91 next month, is known as the ‘old wolf’ of Brazilian football. Even at this age, he is quite active on social media. He often posts various pictures and souvenirs of his playing life on Instagram. He has more than one lakh followers on Instagram. Just four days ago, he posted a photo of himself getting a haircut at a salon.
the World Cup. Playing with Pele in 1958 and 1962, he gave the World Cup title to Brazil. Then in 1970, he gave Brazil the World Cup title as a coach. He served as assistant coach in the 1994 World Cup winning team. Then again in 1998 he got the responsibility of coach. Brazil was defeated by France in the final of that tournament.
Meanwhile, another Brazilian legend Pele posted on Instagram wishing Jagalo a speedy recovery, saying, ‘My friend Jagalo, I know you are going through a difficult time. But know this, I pray for your speedy recovery.’
81-year-old Pele has been suffering from various physical problems for three years. The three-time World Cup-winning legend underwent surgery for colon cancer and also had a kidney stone removed. Apart from this, Pele is also suffering from waist problems.
